Then you can pan for gold in the only known Roman gold mine in Britain and feel the wind in your hair as you ride through the waves on horseback on Wales’s longest beach. There’s something about Carmarthenshire’s carefree experiences that simply blow away your inhibitions and let your imagination run wild. Go on, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Pan for gold
Turn prospector in the only known Roman gold mine in Britain set in hills near Pumpsaint in the beautiful Cothi Valley. Plunge your pan into the trough of running water and search through the silt for any treasure. Dolaucothi Gold Mine dates back some 2000 years to a time when the open-cast gold workings were secured by the Roman army. Once a likely source of gold bullion for the Imperial mints of Lyons and Rome, the mines are still in a remarkable state of preservation despite being abandoned by the Romans in AD 140. You’ll be thrilled to explore an underground labyrinth.
Quad-biking
If you’re looking for action then quad-biking has to be one of the ultimate adrenalin experiences. There are thrills and spills and a lot of mud involved in this activity. Once you’ve master the basics of driving the quad the challenges are endless. From heady heights to narrow rides - it promises to set your heart racing.
Mountain biking
The thrills and spills of the great outdoors beckon with some of the best mountain biking terrain for miles. Choose between the natural terrain and the man-made trails in the Brechfa and Crychan forests. Adrenalin junkies rave over the thrilling Gorlech trail. Its red route is made up of three big climbs and swoops stretching over 19km.
Water thrills
The Teifi’s rapids are a challenge for canoeists, though you can also paddle and sail in calmer waters on lakes along the coast. There’s more surfing, kayaking, surf skiing and river expeditions to be found at the Morfa Bay Adventure centre in Pendine.
Pembrey Country Park
Grown ups love this place as much as the children. Rent a bike and explore the park’s gorgeous countryside or saddle-up and trek through the cool forest on horseback. Then there’s the longest toboggan run in Wales, the dry ski slope, the giant adventure playground, park for frisbee, cricket, and football, seven miles of golden sands at Cefn Sidan... and more.
Paintballing and Laser Combat Games
Let battle commence as you prepare to be blasted in the art of paintballing; every big kid’s dream. The action takes place outside in the woodlands and fields with streams, bunkers, villages and camps. Let your imagination run riot as you complete your mission at Wales’s leading paintballing and laser combat site.
