If you’re thinking leaky tents, muddy fields and soggy sleeping bags then think again. Camping is officially back on the map as a cool holiday choice and Carmarthenshire is leading the way as one of Wales’s premier hot spots.
Celebrity campers such as Sienna Miller, Jamie Oliver and Kate Moss have helped fuel the trend towards cool camping. Property expert and TV presenter Sarah Beeny cites the Brecon Beacons National Park as one of her favourite spots for an al fresco holiday. For an alternative Summer holiday why not go 'glamping' in Wales. That's glamorous camping to you and me. Your camping holiday needn't be boring - make it an experience in Carmarthenshire by staying in one of our tipees or yurts.
Of course there’s always the caravan for the not-quite-so-adventurous. All weather touring pitches with deluxe facilities, all immaculately maintained. And campervanning is another fashionable way to see the countryside; the role of the VW camper is playing a big part in the camping comeback.
Location is key
Finding your ideal caravan site depends on what you are hoping to get out of your holiday. Caravan sites vary in both size and facilities and offer many different features. Some have mod cons such as Wi-Fi, but the style and location of the caravan site is up to you. Check the right hand column for some expert tips.
You may want to relax at a peaceful caravan site near, or stay at a site that is on the doorstep of some of the most stunning scenery and walks.
Some caravan sites are larger and may have a swimming pool, laundry facilities, a TV room or recreation hall. Others are smaller, quieter and have fewer facilities. This type of caravan site would suit you if you are looking for a more secluded holiday, or if you plan on spending little time in your caravan, returning only to sleep after a long day out sightseeing.
