Keep Healthy (Urban Walks)
We all know walking is good for us - health experts say that walking just three miles a day can help lessen or even prevent the effects of many illnesses.
Brisk walking on a regular basis helps reduce blood pressure, reduce the risk of diabetes, helps with weight loss and can reduce the risk of falls, particularly in the elderly as it can improve balance, coordination and joint flexibility.
Walking has mental health benefits too as activity often helps to reduce anxiety and depression. And it’s something we can all do - not just those of us living in the countryside - Carmarthenshire offers a superb series of urban walks aimed everyone living, working, or visiting the area.
Take a look at the great walks mapped out for Carmarthen, Ammanford, Llanelli and Burry Port. Each town offers six walks, all measured so you know just how far you’ve been.
Walks are good for both your mental and physical welfare, whether you walk in the town or in the countryside, so why not get involved and make physical activity a part of your everyday life?
